My work grows out of a deep involvement with environmental causes as well as being influenced by the work of the Luminists, the Hudson River Valley painters and the Impressionists. Each of those schools shared a strong belief in the value of the natural world; they also recognized early on that the human hand is implicated in damaging that world. These images strive to capture the fleetingness of this world before it’s too late.
